Head Chef: Karl Whelan

Few young Irish chefs can boast as impressive a CV as Dubliner Karl Whelan. His passion for food has led him into some of the finest establishments in Europe. Working under such French greats as Yannick Alléno and Laurent Purcell in their respective two and three star Michelin- rated restaurants, Le Jar din des Sense in Montpellier and Le Maurice in Paris, Karl has learnt his craft from some of the best contemporary chefs around.
Thankfully, however, his passion for locally grown quality produce has led Karl back to Irish shores where his talents have been put to good use in such Irish gastronomic institutions as L’Ecrivain and Chapter One.
With a decade of experience and a string of good reviews from Ireland’s food critics, Karl now joins Valparaiso to bring a fresh and exciting new menu to the restaurant at good value placing Monkstown firmly on any food lover’s map.
